Volleyball Program Brings Back "Christmas At The Kates"

The Ashland University athletic department will celebrate the Christmas holiday throughout the week of Dec. 16. The Eagles are extending an invitation to all of their fans to come as much as possible and enjoy all the festivities.

The week begins on Monday, Dec. 16, with the GLIAC basketball home opener. On that night, the Eagles host Saginaw Valley State in a GLIAC basketball doubleheader. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the men's game will follow at 7:30 p.m.  Donations (cash or canned food items) will be accepted at the door for Associated Charities. Santa Claus will stop in to watch the games and distribute candy.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Eagles host Wayne State in another basketball twinbill. Again, the games will tip off at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., and donations for Associated Charities will be accepted at the door. All children ages 12 and under can attend the games at no charge.

Also on this night, the AU volleyball team will bring back the "Christmas at Kates," program. This is for children ages 12 and under and will be held in the upstairs classrooms from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be craft stations, games and Eagle ornaments for all children. Mr. and Mrs. Claus have already sent in their reservations for the evening. This event is free.

The week concludes with a men's basketball game on Saturday Dec. 21 (5 p.m.) against Ohio Christian. That will be the final time that donations will be accepted for Associated Charities.
