Ashland University senior Brittany Snider (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team.
The District 4 Team was selected by sports information directors within the region. Snider will now be included on the Capital One Academic All-America national ballot.
Snider is an outside hitter. She is a biology major with a 3.52 grade point average. Snider is a two-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team (3.50 GPA or higher). She is a member of Ashland's SAAC chapter and she has raised funds for the Lorain County Special Olympics. This is her first time on the national ballot.
Snider is the GLIAC leader in kills and kills per set. She is fourth in the nation in kills per set and fifth in points per set. In 2010, she was second in the country in kills per set. Snider was the GLIAC freshman of the year in 2009 and that same season she was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team.
Snider has been named the GLIAC South Division player of the week twice this season and she was honored as the AVCA national player of the week once. At AU, Snider is second in career attacks and third in career kills.
Ashland is 21-6 overall, 11-5 in the GLIAC and ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings. The Eagles play at home twice this weekend, hosting Wayne State on Friday (Nov. 9, 7 p.m.) and Findlay on Saturday (Nov.10, 6 p.m.).
