Women’s Tennis Wins Second Straight GLIAC Match, 5-4

Ashland University's women's tennis team won its second consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday (Sept. 19), taking a 5-4 decision at Findlay.

The Eagles are 2-3 overall and in the GLIAC. AU has won back-to-back conference matches for the first time since Oct. 4-5, 2013.

Winning singles matches were seniors Martina Baca (2-6, 6-3, 7-5 at second singles), Andrea Ruiz (4-6, 7-5, 7-5 at third singles), Kendal Stephens (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at fifth singles) and Daniela Alves (6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles).

Stephens and Alves also won their third doubles match by an 8-5 count.

Ashland will play at Tiffin on Sunday (Sept. 20) at 10 a.m.
