Ashland Ranked No. 7 In NABC Division II Coaches Poll

The Ashland University men's basketball team climbed one spot to No. 7 in the latest NABC Division II coaches' poll released on Tuesday (Jan. 22) afternoon.

The Eagles (16-1, 9-1 GLIAC) are in the top 10 of the poll for the fourth straight week and are coming off a pair of decisive home wins over Saginaw Valley and Northwood. Ashland has rebounded nicely from its only loss of the season on Jan. 10 with three straight victories.

AU has now been ranked in six straight polls by the NABC.

The Eagles won 13 straight games to start the regular season for their second-best unbeaten start to a season in program history.

Ashland, which rates as the second-best scoring defense in the nation, leads the GLIAC by two games over Davenport (14-3, 7-3 GLIAC). Three teams – Ferris State, Lake Superior State and Parkside – are backlogged at 6-4 in conference play.

Earlier this week, redshirt-senior guard Ben Haraway was the third AU player this season to win the GLIAC South Player of the Week award.

Junior center Drew Noble leads the Eagles in scoring (17.1) while redshirt-sophomore wing Aaron Thompson is the GLIAC leader at 9.5 rebounds per game.

The Eagles play Ohio-Chillicothe tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 22) at 6 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium. GLIAC play resumes on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Wayne State.
