The 2018 football National Signing Day is Feb. 7, and there will be numerous ways for Ashland University football fans to follow along as the next set of Eagle recruits becomes official.
Feb. 7 is the first day high school football players can sign a National Letter of Intent in NCAA Division II. Throughout the day, goashlandeagles.com, Ashland's athletics and football Twitter accounts and a mid-afternoon press conference will provide the following:
- The @goashlandeagles and @AshlandFB Twitter accounts will provide information on signees as their paperwork comes in.
- Head football coach Lee Owens will announce the updated 2018 recruiting class in a press conference at 3 p.m. at the VIP Room in the Robert Troop Center. A press release with bios on the recruits will be available at the VIP room, and will be online at goashlandeagles.com shortly after the beginning of the press conference.
The AU community and the general public are invited to attend the press conference, as the latest class of Eagles is unveiled.
In recent years, anywhere between 36-55 new recruits have been announced by Ashland on National Signing Day.
In addition to the list of newest Eagles, Ashland's 2018 schedule will be released, which will include the date and time of the annual Purple and Gold spring game at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.
Ashland is coming off one of its finest seasons in 2017, having finished 11-2 with a first-round NCAA Division II postseason home win and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. The Eagles ended the campaign ranked 10th in the final 2017 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll.
