Ashland University senior right-hander Devin Peters was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (March 5) morning.
It is the second straight week an AU hurler has won the award after junior Chance Hitchcock won it on Feb. 26. Peters won GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in his career. He also won the honor April 23, 2018.
Peters was dynamite in a 6-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Feb. 25, tossing seven shutout innings and matching a career high with 11 strikeouts. In Saturday's Florida trip opener against Seton Hill, Peters did not earn a decision, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just three runs on six hits. He struck out seven with two walks.
For the week, Peters threw 13 1/3 innings with a 2.02 ERA and struck out 18 against only three walks.
The Eagles (5-1) continue their Florida trip on Tuesday afternoon with an in-region tilt against West Virginia Wesleyan that starts at 2:30 p.m.
