Men’s Soccer Rallies Twice For Home Tie Against Walsh

Ashland University's men's soccer team rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to tie Walsh, 3-3, on Thursday (Oct. 23) night at Ferguson Field.

The Eagles are 4-7-3 overall and 3-6-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Cavaliers are 2-9-4, 1-6-4.

Walsh posted the first goal of the night, when Evan Napier scored in the 15th minute on assists from Gabe Anderson and Henry Noon. Napier then scored his second of the night in the 17th minute following a pass from Jax Pena.

Ashland cut its early deficit in half in the 33rd minute when senior forward Soshi Tanaka's fifth goal came on helpers from freshman forward Tom Woodward (third assist) and junior midfielder Sergio Ruiz (first assist).

The Eagles then got the first-half equalizer with less than 90 seconds to go to the break, as senior defender Flynn Toon's second tally of the season put the score at 2-2.

Napier's hat trick was complete in the 52nd minute on a long lead assist from Bobby Moore. Ashland once again pulled the game level, this time in the 83rd minute, when Woodward scored his team-leading seventh goal of 2025 on a long pass from junior defender Enoch Oye (first assist).
