Ashland University's men's soccer team rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to tie Walsh, 3-3, on Thursday (Oct. 23) night at Ferguson Field.
The Eagles are 4-7-3 overall and 3-6-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Cavaliers are 2-9-4, 1-6-4.
Walsh posted the first goal of the night, when Evan Napier scored in the 15
th minute on assists from Gabe Anderson and Henry Noon. Napier then scored his second of the night in the 17
th minute following a pass from Jax Pena.
Ashland cut its early deficit in half in the 33
rd minute when senior forward
Soshi Tanaka's fifth goal came on helpers from freshman forward
Tom Woodward (third assist) and junior midfielder
Sergio Ruiz (first assist).
The Eagles then got the first-half equalizer with less than 90 seconds to go to the break, as senior defender
Flynn Toon's second tally of the season put the score at 2-2.
Napier's hat trick was complete in the 52
nd minute on a long lead assist from Bobby Moore. Ashland once again pulled the game level, this time in the 83
rd minute, when Woodward scored his team-leading seventh goal of 2025 on a long pass from junior defender
Enoch Oye (first assist).
WRAPPING IT UP
- The Eagles posted a season-high 23 shots to the Cavaliers' 11.
- Ashland narrowly led in corner kicks on Thursday night, 5-3.
- Both junior Zach Harrison (50:37 minutes) and sophomore Alvaro Boned (39:23 minutes) made a save in the contest.
