Both of Ashland University's cross country teams and two Eagle runners have earned 2016 academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Ashland's women (3.28 team cumulative grade-point average) and men (3.07 team GPA) each were named a 2016 NCAA Division II Cross Country Scholar Teams. The Eagle women and men were two of 156 women's teams and 115 men's squads from the Division II level that captured All-Academic Team honors.
In addition, senior Zach Humrichouser and sophomore Steven Kapes each garnered individual All-Academic awards. Those are awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25, and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
Humrichouser and Kapes were two of 673 men and women from D-II to earn the honor.
