Eagles Move Into No. 8 Spot In Midwest Region

In the second set of NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings released on Wednesday (Nov. 9) afternoon, Ashland University's volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 8.

The Eagles are 19-9 overall and 10-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. AU has two regular-season matches remaining, both at Kates Gymnasium - Senior Night against Wayne State on Friday (Nov. 11) at 7 p.m. and Parents Day vs. Findlay on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 2 p.m.

Ashland has clinched a spot in the 2016 GLIAC Tournament, and is tied with Saginaw Valley State, Michigan Tech and Wayne State for the third and fourth spots, which would give the Eagles a home quarterfinal on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.

The first set of regional rankings were released on Nov. 2, and the third will be on Nov. 16. The NCAA Division II postseason selection show will be Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

A 64-team tournament (top eight teams from each of eight regions), the Division II postseason will begin on Dec. 1, and the national championship match will be Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

In the Midwest Region, automatic qualifiers come from the GLIAC, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The other five teams are chosen as at-large entries.
