AU Volleyball Starts Regional Rankings At No. 9

Ashland University's volleyball team is No. 9 in the initial set of NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, released on Wednesday (Nov. 2) afternoon.

The Eagles are 17-8 overall and 8-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and are on a seven-match winning streak. In a tie for third place in the GLIAC South, AU is 1½ matches ahead of the No. 9 team in the conference (eight teams qualify for the 2016 GLIAC Tournament).

The second set of regional rankings will be released on Nov. 9, and the third on Nov. 16. The NCAA Division II postseason selection show will be Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

A 64-team tournament (top eight teams from each of eight regions), the Division II postseason will begin on Dec. 1, and the national championship match will be Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

In the Midwest Region, automatic qualifiers come from the GLIAC, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The other five teams are chosen as at-large entries.
