Eagles Lose To Walsh In Last Match Of Fall

In its last match of the fall season, the Ashland University women's tennis team lost to Walsh, 7-2, on Saturday (Oct. 22).

"The girls showed a lot of heart today and left it all out on the courts," AU head coach Lexi Bolesky said.

Freshman Brianna Brdicka was a part of both Eagle victories on the day. She defeated Cavaliers freshman Mercedes Fernandez, 6-2, 6-3, in second singles.

Brdicka also teamed up with AU freshman Allison Brooks to beat Walsh senior Gabriela Laguna-Leon and freshman Victoria Ambrosio, 8-3, in the second doubles. The doubles win was the first of Brdicka and Brooks' careers.

"We continue to show promise and improvements," Bolesky said.

Brdicka led Ashland in singles victories with three this fall.

"We are looking forward to putting the work in throughout the offseason and competing in the spring," Bolesky said.
