Senior forward Morgan Bittengle was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Oct. 30) afternoon.
It is the third GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award for Bittengle this month after also winning on Oct. 3 and Oct. 16. She has won the award four times in her career.
Bittengle scored a hat trick in the Eagles' lone game last Friday (Oct. 27) – a 5-1 win over Tiffin at Ferguson Field. She now has 15 goals on the season and scored her 50th goal of her career in the win.
She is riding an incredible hot streak going into postseason play, having scored 10 goals in her last six games and 13 goals in her last 10.
Bittengle scored the opening goal of Friday's victory just 56 seconds after kickoff as she headed in a free kick by senior Julie Lacock. Her second goal came just two minutes into the second half as she cleaned up a rebound after a shot by freshman Emily Mark was saved by the TU goalkeeper.
The Eagles (11-5-1) earned the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Tournament and welcome No. 7-seed Northern Michigan on Tuesday (Oct. 31) in the quarterfinals. AU has won nine of their last 11 games and was ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings.
Kickoff on Halloween afternoon is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Ferguson Field.
