Ashland University senior defender Jessica Brown has earned the title of Academic All-America.

Brown was named as part of the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) NCAA Division II Academic All-America second team on Monday (Nov. 20) afternoon. This comes on the heels of Brown's second CoSIDA Academic All-District honor in October.

A two-time member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Excellence Team, Brown has a 3.99 cumulative grade-point average as an Exercise Science major. On the field in 2016, Brown had a goal and an assist in 17 games, and was the veteran leader of a defense which allowed just 16 goals.

Brown is the Ashland women's soccer program's third Academic All-America, following Becky Richards (2002-03) and Tiffany Crooks (2001).
