Ashland University's women's soccer team is one of 892 college soccer squads to earn a College Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the NSCAA revealed on Thursday (Oct. 6).
According to the NSCAA, to qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
During the 2015-16 school year, the Eagle women had a cumulative GPA of 3.42. Seven players earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference' All-Academic Excellence awards (cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher), while five players received GLIAC All-Academic Team honors (cumulative GPA of 3.00-3.49).
