Eight of 10 wrestlers from the No. 7-ranked Ashland University wrestling team still have a shot to go to nationals after Day 1 of the Super Region II tournament in Indianapolis, Ind., that took place on Friday (Feb. 24).

Seven of the eight have advanced to the semifinals and can take home first place with two consecutive wins on Saturday (Feb. 25).

Eagles redshirt senior Brent Fickel (149 pounds) and redshirt juniors Jordan Murphy (184) and Luke Cramer (197) are all undefeated with two wins through the quarterfinal round.

AU redshirt senior Michael Labry (133), sophomore Chandler Minnard (141), redshirt freshman Bret Romanzak (165) and sophomore Deaken McCoy (285) are all in the semifinals with one win under their belts after having received a bye in the championship round.

At 125, redshirt sophomore Sebastian Vidika is hoping to place top four by making his way through the consolation bracket. After going 2-1 on Friday, Vidika will need to win three matches on Day 2 to advance.
