Brandt Remains No. 1 At 197 In Division II

Ashland University senior Joe Brandt stays as the top-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds in the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association rankings, released on Wednesday (Dec. 2).

Brandt is 7-2 with 17 takedowns and a pin so far in 2015-16.

At 184, junior Brandon O'Neill is ranked No. 7 in the country. He is 2-2 this season.

As a team, the Eagles are the 19th-ranked team in Division II.

In Super Region II, Brandt is the top-ranked grappler at 197, O'Neill is ranked second at 184, senior Zeb Beam (2-4) is fourth at 157 and junior Brent Fickel (3-2) is fifth at 149.

The Eagles are ranked ninth as a team in the super region.

Ashland will have its first home dual of the 2015-16 season on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. against Pitt-Johnstown, ranked No. 7 in the country.
