Eagle Wrestling Team, Individuals Earn NWCA Academic Honors

Five Ashland University wrestlers and the Eagle program as a whole earned recognition on the 2014-15 Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team, selected by the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Senior Kurt Schaefer earned first-team recognition for his 3.34 overall grade-point average in nursing. Juniors Zeb Beam (3.20 GPA in nursing) and Brent Fickel (3.08 in middle grades education) both were second-team choices.

Earning honorable mention were junior Nolan Dilts (3.92 in sport management) and sophomore Grady Millick (3.54 in science education).

As a program, Ashland finished 12th in team GPA in Division II at 3.20. The team GPA is calculated by averaging the cumulative GPAs of 10 wrestlers from each team, of which eight of those must have competed in their team's NCAA Division II National Qualifying Tournament.
