Labry Earns GLIAC Wrestler Of The Week Honors

Ashland University junior Michael Labry continues to add to his personal collegiate accolades, as he is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for his outing Saturday (Nov. 15) at the Eastern Michigan Open.

Labry, ranked first in the region and second in the nation at 133 pounds, went 5-0 and won his weight class on Saturday, recording a major decision, as well as wins over wrestlers from Michigan, Ohio and Michigan State, along the way. He defeated Central Michigan's Carter Ballinger, 11-6, in the championship match.

After two opens at Mercyhurst and Eastern Michigan, Labry is 9-1 with a first- and second-place finish. A two-time All-American, Labry is 75-8 as an Eagle.

The Eagles will play host for their next two competitions – the Simonson Open on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 10 a.m. and a dual against Mercyhurst on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.
