Lemons’ 78 Leads Eagle Women After Corbett Day 1

Ashland University's women's golf team, which received votes in the 2018-19 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Preseason Poll, teed off to begin the new season on Sunday (Sept. 9) at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic at Lake Shore Country Club, Erie, Pa.

The Eagle women ended the first 18 holes of the tournament with a team score of 333, good for a tie for fifth place in the 20-team field. Tiffin is the team pacesetter (319), followed by Gannon (327) and both West Chester and Walsh (328).

Sophomore Hannah Lemons paced the Ashland effort with a score of 78, putting her in a tie for third place individually after the first round. Following right behind were senior Monica Torda (tied for 12th, 81) and sophomore Sophie Hemleben (tied for 17th, 82).

Rounding out the Eagle team play were junior Logan Pottorf (92) and freshman Virginia Travers (107). Playing as individuals were junior Claire Coughenour (95) and freshman Leah Burtscher (100).

Round 2 of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic will be Monday (Sept. 10) at 10 a.m.
