Women's Golf Off To Strong Start At GLIAC Championships
The Ashland University women's golf team ended the first round of action at the GLIAC Championships in second place. Friday (Apr. 26) was the first day of play at this year's conference tournament.
The Eagles shot 319, seven strokes behind defending champion Grand Valley State. The Lakers shot 312 to lead the 10-team field after the first day. This year's championship event is being hosted by Tiffin and is being played at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Ferris State is still in the championship picture. The Bulldogs shot 321 and are in third place. Findlay shot 331 and is fourth.
AU's Ali Green (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) shot 77 and ended the first round tied for second place. Holly James (Strongsville Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) shot 79 and tied for fifth. Madison Musick (Fairborn, Ohio) ended Friday with a score of 80 and is tied for seventh.
Grand Valley State's Kelly Hartigan was at the front of the leader board at the end of the day on Friday. She shot 75.
This tournament runs through Sunday.
