Kondratick Fires 70, Ashland Men Finish Ninth


Ashland men's golf entered Day 2 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Invitational in Lexington, Ky. in 12th place with 316 strokes.

The Eagles bettered their score by 23 on Tuesday (March 28), firing a 293 and moving up three spots to place ninth. 

Sophomore Austin Kondratick led the Eagles with a two-day score of 147 (+3), tying for 13th of 71 golfers. His two-under-par 70 on Day 2 tied him with two other golfers for the second-best score at the invite. Only two others outdid that group with 69s.

AU juniors Chandler Walnsch and Gabriel Reynolds tied with four others for 29th with 151 (+7) total scores. 

Tying for 56th place at 159 (+15) was Ashland sophomore Ethan Blough.

Sophomore Cole Smith tied for 64th with a 164 (+20), and sophomore Frank Steffen placed 71st with a 174 (+30).

UP NEXT: AU heads to the Spring Regional at the Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville, Tenn., on April 3-4 to begin its postseason.
