Former Ashland University pitcher Brandyn Sittinger appeared in the Midwest League All-Star Game on Tuesday (June 19) night in Lansing, Mich.
Sittinger, a 17th round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers, struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning, helping the East Division team to a 3-2, 10-inning win.
The right-hander is in his third season in the Tigers organization and is currently assigned to the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps. He is 2-1 with a 4.83 ERA and 42 strikeouts across 31 2/3 innings. Sittinger has one save of the season. He has a career 3.05 ERA in pro ball.
Sittinger spent two seasons with the Eagles, earning Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year honors as a junior in 2016 when he was 11-0 with a 2.23 ERA. He recorded 131 strikeouts in 88 2/3 innings that season. He twice led the GLIAC in strikeouts.
